Home Alone


Typically toward the end of an Administration, top officials start to leave.  The Washington Post did a snapshot of where things stand today and found that more than half of the top positions are already vacant.  When this is combined with the statistic that at the beginning of the Bush Administration (and likely the next president’s administration) it took an average of 8.5 months to fill the top tier of about 600 appointments, this implies that career executives could well be filling a majority of key jobs for more than a year.
